Reverse description Central device depicts a seated Pekingese dog rendered in high relief, facing left with detailed fur texture, commemorating the Chinese Lunar Year of the Dog. A decorative border of geometric key-fret pattern runs along the lower portion of the field beneath the dog. Two characters in traditional Mongolian vertical script appear in the upper right of the field, denoting the cyclic year designation. Additional information

Mongolia's lunar gold series of the 1990s was produced in extremely limited quantities for the international collector market, with distribution handled largely through European numismatic dealers rather than domestic channels. The Bank of Mongolia had minimal infrastructure for direct collector sales at the time.

KM#76 is among the scarcer issues in the run, with the Dog year falling early in the series before production quantities were adjusted upward for later animals.
