Obverse description The Sri Lanka Customs bicentennial commemorative design occupies the central field, featuring the stylized eye emblem of Sri Lanka Customs — an eye motif enclosing a vignette of a ship and aircraft — surrounded by the legend 'SRI LANKA CUSTOMS' in Latin script and its equivalent in Sinhala and Tamil scripts. The dates '1809' and '2009' flank the Sri Lanka lion passant device at the top of the field, with the inscription 'BICENTENNIAL COMMEMORATION' in Latin script to the right. An ornamental floral border frames the entire design, with additional Sinhala and Tamil legends arranged around the inner circle referencing the bicentennial anniversary.

Reverse description The central field depicts a detailed frontal view of the modern multi-storey building housing the Sri Lanka Customs Administration headquarters, rendered in relief against a plain field. Above the building, the Sinhala legend 'පළමුව රට' (Country First) is inscribed, with 'ශ්‍රී ලංකා' (Sri Lanka) above it. The large numeral '200' appears prominently below the building, followed by the denomination stated in Sinhala, Tamil, and Latin scripts reading 'TWO HUNDRED RUPEES'. The legends 'SRI LANKA' and 'COUNTRY FIRST' are arranged along the right margin in Latin script, with Tamil and Sinhala equivalents to the left. The date '2009' is inscribed at the bottom of the field.
