The Urals Cossack Army issued its own currency in 1918 as the Host government in Uralsk asserted administrative independence from both the Bolsheviks and the competing White authorities. These notes circulated within a territory under severe military pressure — the Ural Front was one of the more brutal and sustained engagements of the Russian Civil War, and the Host's forces held out against the Red Army longer than almost any other Cossack formation, not surrendering until early 1920.
The S928 series was a local production under wartime constraints. Printing quality reflects that.
