Reverse description Within an elaborate decorative cartouche, the central motif presents the equestrian monument to Peter I (the 'Bronze Horseman') as it stands on Senate Square in Saint Petersburg. In the upper left quadrant, three tall-masted sailing ships are depicted against the silhouetted outline of the Admiralty building. In the upper right quadrant, the imperial double-headed eagle beneath a crown with orb and sceptre is set against the outline of the Twelve Collegiums building. The lower left section, framed by the outline of the Kunstkammer, features an astronomical instrument, a scroll, dividers, a compass, a set square, and two books — emblems of science and learning — while the lower right section, against the outline of the Shlisselburg Fortress, displays banners, cannons, cannonballs, muskets, a drum, and a shield bearing the double-headed eagle, symbolising Peter's military achievements.
