| Additional information |
Issued as part of Russia's promotional campaign ahead of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, this coin belongs to a lengthy series that the Bank of Russia began releasing years before the Games opened — an unusually long lead time driven by the IOC's strict licensing schedule and Russia's ambition to dominate the collector market for Olympic issues. The Sochi program ultimately became one of the largest Olympic coin programs any host nation had undertaken.
Mintage on individual sports issues in this series was capped at 500 pieces.
