Opmerkingen

Belarus issued this note in 1992 as part of its first independent currency series, the Belarusian ruble, which replaced Soviet rubles circulating after the USSR's dissolution. The series was informally called "zaichiki" — little hares — by the Belarusian public, a nickname derived from the animal imagery printed across the lower denominations. The 200-rouble note sits near the top of the initial series before hyperinflation made the entire range obsolete within a few years, eventually forcing redenominations that would render even this relatively high face value effectively worthless.
