Opmerkingen

The 200 Rouble denomination was introduced in 2017 alongside the 2,000 Rouble note — the first new face values added to Russian currency since the 1998 redenomination. Both were chosen following a public vote, which also determined the regional themes depicted. The exercise was partly a political one, with Crimea selected for the 200 Rouble note following Russia's 2014 annexation of the peninsula — a choice that made the note itself a statement of territorial claim.

The QR code embedded in the design links to the Bank of Russia's note verification page, a relatively unusual feature for a circulating banknote of this period.
