Obverse description Central field displays the crowned Imperial Arms of Brazil, consisting of a coffee and tobacco branch-encircled armorial shield surmounted by a royal crown, set within an elaborate heraldic composition. The legend IMPERIO DO BRAZIL arcs along the upper periphery, while the date appears in the lower exergual area flanked by decorative six-pointed stars. The design is rendered in fine relief with detailed heraldic shading characteristic of the late Imperial Brazilian coinage series.

Reverse description The reverse features a central circular panel with a shaded or granulated background enclosing the denomination 200 RÉIS in bold relief. Surrounding this inner circle, a continuous arc legend references the authorizing decree. The outer legend is separated from the central value panel by a plain inner border ring, creating a structured two-zone layout typical of late nineteenth-century Brazilian copper-nickel coinage.
