Obverse description Bare-headed, bearded effigy of Emperor Pedro II of Brazil facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and full beard. The engraver's initials 'C.L.' appear on the truncation, attributing the portrait to Cristian Lüster. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust reading 'PETRUS II D.G.C.IMP. ET PERP.BRAS.DEF.', identifying the emperor by his Latin title as perpetual defender of Brazil. The date appears in the lower field, flanked by small decorative stars. The coin is bordered by a continuous beaded rim.
