背面描述 Central field dominated by a detailed depiction of a Portuguese caravel under full sail, shown in three-quarter view with sails bearing the Cross of the Order of Christ, recalling the vessels of the original colonizers. The ship is rendered above a stylized representation of waves in the lower field. The commemorative dates 1532 and 1932 are placed at the upper left and upper right respectively, flanking the mast. The denomination 200 REIS appears in large numerals and lettering in the lower exergue, with the engraver's initials AP visible in the field below the ship.

附加信息

Brazil's 1932 commemorative program marked four centuries since the establishment of the captaincy system under João III, the administrative framework that divided the Brazilian coastline into hereditary land grants and set the template for colonial governance. The issue appeared in the same year as the Constitutionalist Revolution, when São Paulo rose against Getúlio Vargas — a pointed irony given that the revolt's epicenter was itself one of those original captaincies.
