备注

The 200 Rand denomination was introduced in 1994 as the highest value in the post-apartheid series — a deliberate signal that the new South Africa required larger transactional notes as the economy opened up. By the mid-2000s, the 200 Rand represented serious purchasing power, and the denomination attracted sustained attention from counterfeiters throughout its run, prompting the Reserve Bank to tighten security specifications incrementally within the series.

Two governors' signatures appear on notes across this date range: Tito Mboweni, who held the position from 1999 to 2009, and Gill Marcus, who succeeded him. Marcus was the first woman to govern the South African Reserve Bank.
