200 Piastres Vietnam issue

The Institut d'Émission des États du Cambodge, du Laos et du Viêt-Nam was a short-lived institution, created in 1952 under the framework of the French Union to replace the Banque de l'Indochine as the currency authority across the three Associated States. Each of the three states received its own version of certain denominations — hence this being designated the Vietnam issue rather than a shared regional note. The arrangement collapsed within years; the Geneva Accords of 1954 accelerated the end of any unified Indochinese monetary framework.

Paul Jouve was a recognized animal painter and sculptor, an unusual choice for banknote design work, though his involvement with Indochinese issues predates this series. Beltrand was among the most accomplished intaglio engravers working for the Banque de France at mid-century.
