Obverse description At left, a richly caparisoned elephant stands in three-quarter profile, rendered in fine intaglio engraving after Paul Jouve's design. At right, a pair of water buffalos wade through a rocky riverscape, framed by steep cliffs. The central vignette features an ornate arched gateway with guilloche scrollwork, flanked by the denomination numeral 200 in both corners, with the issuing authority legend and denomination title in bold letterpress above.

Reverse description At left, a portrait of Bao Dai appears in intaglio, rendered in a three-quarter view with fine cross-hatched shading. At centre, a traditional Vietnamese pagoda gate is depicted in detailed engraving against a background of lush foliage. The denomination is expressed in three scripts — Vietnamese (HAI TRAM DONG), Khmer, and Lao — arranged at right, with the issuing authority name VIEN PHAT-HANH across the top.
