Obverse description At center, the four quadrants of the Uruguayan national coat of arms are rendered in stylized form, featuring the scales of justice, the Cerro de Montevideo fortress, a horse, and an ox. The abbreviated country name URUGUAY arcs along the upper legend, while the denomination 200 PESOS URUGUAYOS appears in the exergue. The composition reflects the influence of Universal Constructivism, the artistic movement pioneered by Uruguayan painter Joaquín Torres García. The design was engraved by Miguel Battegazzore.
