Obverse description The Dominican Republic national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a cross, flanked by a laurel branch to the left and a palm frond to the right, with a scroll above inscribed DIOS PATRIA LIBERTAD and a ribbon below bearing REPUBLICA DOMINICANA. The circular legend REPUBLICA DOMINICANA arcs along the upper periphery, with two five-pointed stars flanking the date 1982 at the base. The Chi (Valcambi) mint mark appears to the left of the date.
