Obverse description Central intaglio vignette of Leopoldo Alas «Clarín» (1852–1901), the celebrated Spanish novelist and jurist, rendered in a three-quarter portrait at left-centre. The Spanish Coat of Arms appears to the right, accompanied by the denomination numeral «200» and the issuing bank's name in letterpress. Fine guilloche underprint patterns fill the background field.
