Comments

Brazil's Thesouro Nacional relied heavily on the American Bank Note Company throughout the First Republic period, and this 11th print of the 200 Mil Réis continues that arrangement. The "print" designations used in Brazilian cataloging reflect successive contract batches rather than distinct design changes — the same plates were often reused across multiple prints, making the serial number prefix the only reliable way to distinguish them in hand.

The 200 Mil Réis denomination sat at a meaningful level in 1908 Brazil, a period when the Caixa de Conversão was actively managing exchange rates following the coffee valorization crisis. Notes of this value circulated among merchants and the commercial class rather than in everyday retail trade.
