Opmerkingen

The Caixa de Estabilização was a short-lived stabilization fund established by President Arthur Bernardes in 1926 to back Brazilian currency with gold, part of a broader — and ultimately unsuccessful — attempt to peg the milréis at a fixed rate. Rather than print new notes, the Caixa simply overprinted existing Banco do Brasil 200 Mil Réis stock, which the American Bank Note Company had already produced. The arrangement collapsed within two years; Getúlio Vargas's 1930 revolution ended any pretense of gold convertibility.

The "E" suffix in the Pick number denotes an essay or specimen classification, meaning confirmed issued examples in private hands are exceptionally rare.
