| Opmerkingen |
The 200 Lira denomination was introduced as part of the E-9 series, the first series issued after Turkey's 2005 redenomination stripped six zeros from the Türk lirası — a correction made necessary by inflation that had, at its worst in 2001, pushed the dollar exchange rate past 1.6 million old lira. The 200 note sat at the top of the initial E-9 lineup, reflecting how quickly purchasing power had again eroded since the redenomination.
Printed in-house at the central bank's own facility in Ankara, which has produced Turkish banknotes since the mid-1950s — the OVD hologram strip on this denomination is among the more technically complex security elements deployed in the series.
