Obverse description A finely engraved chinze (mythical lion-guardian figure) occupies the right portion of the note, rendered in deep blue intaglio against a multicolour guilloche underprint of orange and violet rosettes. Denomination numerals "200" appear in the upper-left and lower-right corners within guilloche cartouches, while the central field carries the value in large Myanmar script characters. A decorative floral frieze runs along the lower border, and a pentagram-star emblem is visible within a circular vignette to the right of the chinze.

Comments

Myanmar's post-1988 military government issued banknotes under the Central Bank of Myanmar name, but the institution operated under direct junta oversight — monetary policy decisions of this period were frequently subordinated to political ones. The "Reduced size" designation in the series reflects a cost-driven reformatting introduced in the 2000s, downsizing several denominations from their earlier specifications rather than a full redesign.

A single watermark as the sole security feature on a note from 2004 is notably sparse for the denomination, suggesting limited printing infrastructure investment at the time.
