| Opmerkingen |
Angola's 2003 banknote series, of which this is a part, was issued as the country was emerging from a civil war that had run nearly continuously since independence in 1975. The kwanza itself had been redenominated multiple times before this — the "readjusted kwanza" and the "novo kwanza" both came and went — making this series the first with any reasonable expectation of monetary stability in a generation.
Oberthur Fiduciaire printed extensively for Francophone and Lusophone Africa during this period, and the security specification here is relatively modest: watermark and thread only, with no optically variable ink. That reflects both the denomination's face value and Angola's printing budget priorities at the time of contract.
