Obverse description Intaglio portrait of Reverend John Chilembwe (1871–1915) at centre-right, set against a vignette of a sunrise over Lake Malawi with fishermen in the foreground. Guilloche underprint in multicolour covers the note field, with the denomination numeral and issuer legend rendered in letterpress. The Reserve Bank of Malawi seal appears alongside the promise-to-pay inscription.

Reverse description The central vignette presents an intaglio view of the Reserve Bank headquarters building in Lilongwe, rendered in teal and dark blue tones with palm trees and surrounding grounds in the foreground. The Reserve Bank of Malawi coat-of-arms appears at upper centre alongside an oval green denomination panel reading "K200", while a colour-shifting fish watermark device occupies the lower right. The denomination and issuer name are repeated vertically along the right margin.
