Croatia's 1996 Atlanta Olympics issue commemorates the country's second appearance as an independent nation at the Summer Games — its first full Olympic cycle since declaring independence from Yugoslavia in 1991. The basketball team that year was particularly notable, fielding several NBA-caliber players during a period when Croatian basketball commanded genuine international respect.
