Issued to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the United Nations, this coin appeared just two years after the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia — a country that had itself been a UN founding member in 1945. The newly independent Czech Republic used commemorative silver issues extensively in its early years as a straightforward mechanism for establishing numismatic presence on international markets.
KM#17 is one of several Czech commemoratives from 1995 sharing nearly identical production parameters, making die identification the primary differentiator among collector copies.
