Kamenický Šenov, a small town in northern Bohemia near the Lusatian Mountains, has been central to Bohemian glass production since the 17th century. The glassmaking school established there — formally the Specialized School of Glassmaking — trained generations of craftsmen whose work sustained Bohemia's dominance in decorative and technical glass export markets through the industrial period and well into the 20th century.
The Czech National Bank's commemorative 200 Korun series has consistently used the format to document regional craft and educational institutions that fall outside mainstream historical commemoration. This is one of the quieter entries in that run.
