Obverse description The obverse bears an intaglio portrait vignette of Anton Bernolák, the Slovak linguist and Catholic priest credited with codifying the first literary standard of the Slovak language, positioned to the left of centre. The commemorative inscriptions reference the Bimillennium in both Latin and Slovak, with the date MM denoting the year 2000, accompanied by a guilloche underprint in muted tones. The engraver's and designer's credits — J. BUBÁK DEL. and V. FAJT SC. — appear in the lower margin.
