Additional information

This issue commemorates Leopold I, Holy Roman Emperor and King of Hungary, whose reign from 1657 to 1705 was defined almost entirely by warfare — the Ottoman siege of Vienna in 1683, the subsequent reconquest of Hungary, and the grinding War of the Spanish Succession in his final years. Slovak commemorative silver of this period consistently targets figures from the Habsburg administrative and dynastic history of the region, Leopold's long rule over the Kingdom of Hungary making him a logical subject.

The .900 fineness follows the standard adopted for the Slovak 200 Korún commemorative series throughout its run in the 1990s and early 2000s, before Slovakia's euro adoption in 2009 terminated the koruna entirely.
