Jozef Škultéty spent over six decades as editor of the Slovak literary journal Slovenské pohľady, a tenure so long it bracketed the entire Austro-Hungarian period and extended well into Czechoslovak statehood. His insistence on a standardized written Slovak rooted in the central dialect was less an aesthetic preference than a political act — one that put him in direct conflict with Magyarization policies during the late imperial period. This coin was issued to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth.
