200 Hryven 30 Years of Independence of Ukraine

Issued to mark the thirtieth anniversary of Ukrainian independence in August 1991, this commemorative note was printed domestically at the NBU's own facility in Kyiv — a deliberate signal that Ukraine no longer depends on foreign security printers, as it did through much of the 1990s when early hryvnia notes were produced abroad. The security specification is notably modest for a commemorative issue: watermark and thread only, without the optically variable ink or color-shifting elements found on circulating hryvnia denominations of the same period.
