Obverse description The national arms of Benin occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield supported by two leopards rampant; the upper portion of the shield bears a bull's head in chief, while the four quarters contain a castle, a star, a palm tree, and a sailing vessel respectively. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto in the legend.
