Obverse description A dynamic high-relief depiction of an ice-dancing pair occupies the central field, with the female skater in an outstretched pose at left and the male skater raising both arms above in an athletic lift position at right. The denomination '200 FORINT' appears in large stylised numerals at lower left, with the mint mark 'BP.' and date '1980' in the lower exergual area. The engraver's monogram 'Kz' is visible to the lower right of the figures. The legend 'MAGYAR NÉPKÖZTÁRSASÁG' (Hungarian People's Republic) curves along the outer border, 'MAGYAR' at upper left and 'NÉPKÖZTÁRSASÁG' at right.

Reverse description The official emblem of the XIII Winter Olympic Games, Lake Placid 1980, dominates the deeply recessed, darkened field at centre. The emblem consists of a stylised letter 'L' formed by three descending parallel lines above two chevrons, with the five interlocked Olympic rings surmounting it at upper left and a large decorative snowflake motif to the upper right. The engraver's monogram 'Kz' appears at lower right of the central device. The legend 'XIII. TÉLI OLIMPIAI JÁTÉKOK 1980' curves along the upper border, while 'LAKE PLACID N.Y.' is inscribed along the lower border, both separated by small asterisk ornaments.
