He is depicted wearing a plumed hat, armour, and a draped mantle, holding a sceptre over his left shoulder. The portrait is set against a deeply recessed, polished background within a raised circular border. The legend BETHLEN GÁBOR curves along the right periphery, with the commemorative dates 1629·1979 to the left, marking the 350th anniversary of his death. The engraver's initials TS appear in the lower right field. |
