Reverse description The reverse features an elaborate illuminated-manuscript initial letter rendered in the Gothic style, incorporating a full-length standing effigy of King Károly Róbert (Carolus Robertus) in royal regalia, crowned and armored, holding an orb, with a coat of arms at his feet. Ornate scrollwork and foliate flourishes frame the royal figure within the initial, evoking the decorative style of medieval Hungarian manuscript art. The legend AZ ELSŐ MAGYAR ARANYFORINT EMLÉKÉRE curves around the upper periphery, and the Latin inscription CAROLUS ROBERTUS REX ANNO 1308–42 is integrated within the design. The engraver's mark CSV appears at the base of the design. The composition commemorates the introduction of the first Hungarian gold florin coinage under the Angevin king.
