Obverse description The allegorical figure of the Sower (La Semeuse) is depicted standing before the French tricolor flag, her gaze directed toward the initials RF positioned to her right. Her traditional seed bag has been reinterpreted as a dome, and ears of wheat rise beside her, symbolizing the fruition of France's cultural and economic influence. A raised platform in the lower field bears the face value and denomination inscriptions, echoing the base upon which the original Semeuse motif rests, with the date immediately above. The composition is engraved by John M. Mercanti, blending classical French numismatic iconography with a contemporary allegorical narrative.

Additional information

The Semeuse — the sowing figure that has appeared on French coinage since Roty's 1897 design — was revived here alongside the allegorical Liberty figure as part of the Monnaie de Paris's ongoing program pairing classic Republican iconography with bullion-grade issues. The series draws a deliberate line back to the Third Republic's visual language at a moment when French institutional symbolism has faced considerable political pressure.
