| 裏面の説明 | The reverse carries a central calendar sheet vignette inscribed with the date 'MARDI 1 JANVIER 2002', marking the day Euro banknotes entered circulation, surrounded by the national flags of the eleven founding Eurozone member states: Germany, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Italy, Ireland, France, Finland, Belgium, and Austria, each integrated with the European Union flag motif. The overprinted 'SPECIMEN' and promotional legends appear across the lower portion of the note. |

Produced ahead of the Euro's January 1999 accounting-phase launch, these promotional specimens were distributed to banks, retailers, and government agencies across the twelve adopting states to familiarize cashiers and the public with denominations they would not physically handle until 2002. The 200 Euro note was always the awkward middle child of the series — too large for everyday transactions, too small for serious wholesale use — and promotional copies at this denomination are noticeably less common than the 50 or 100 equivalents, simply because fewer were needed for training purposes.
The "SPECIMEN" designation and 1998 dating distinguish these from the issued series proper.
