Obverse description Central field features a stylized solar emblem depicting the face of Louis XIV as the Sun King, rendered in high relief with flowing curly hair and surrounded by an elaborate radiant burst of alternating long and short rays extending to the coin's periphery. The republican monogram 'RF' appears in the left field, while the denomination '200 EURO' is inscribed in large characters in the lower left field. The dates '1643' and '1715', denoting the reign of Louis XIV, flank the lower portion of the design on either side, separated by the central solar motif. The overall composition evokes the baroque grandeur of the Grand Siècle, reflecting the aesthetic vision of fashion designer Christian Lacroix.
