Reverse description The reverse features a large bust of the Spanish conquistador Francisco de Orellana facing right, wearing a period ruffled collar and plumed conquistador helmet, occupying the left portion of the field. To the right, the denomination '200 EURO' appears in the upper field, below which the stylized euro currency symbol is depicted. A detailed scene of a longboat with several figures rowing upon water is rendered in the central-lower field, evoking Orellana's 1542 navigation of the Amazon River. The crowned Madrid mint mark 'M' appears at the bottom center, and the explorer's name 'FRANCISCO de ORELLANA' is inscribed along the lower arc within a beaded border.
