| Additional information |
Part of the Monnaie de Paris "Heroines" series, this piece honors Hedwig of Silesia, the 13th-century Silesian duchess canonized in 1267 — just two years after her death. She founded the first convent in Silesia at Trzebnica around 1202, an institution that survived well into the modern era. The series itself was a deliberate pivot by the Monnaie de Paris toward figures systematically underrepresented in European numismatic history, issuing each type in strictly limited quantities with collector distribution through subscription.
