Reverse description A winged allegorical Genius, nude and standing in full figure at centre, raises one arm toward a bolt of lightning descending from storm clouds above while the other arm extends outward bearing a laurel branch, symbolising Franklin's mastery of electricity and tyranny's defeat. To the lower left lies a broken crown and sceptre, and a classical temple portico is visible in the left background. The divided circular legend reads ERIPUIT COELO FULMEN at the left and SCEPTRUM QUE TYRANNIS at the right, the famous Turgot epigram honouring Franklin. The denomination 200 EURO appears to the right of the figure, and the lower exergue carries the three-line inscription SCULPSIT ET DICAVIT / AUG . DUPRE ANNO / MDCCLXXXIV, attributing the original design to Augustin Dupré in 1784.
