Beschrijving voorzijde Central motif depicts a detailed architectural rendering of the Torre de Belém as viewed from the Tagus riverbank, with the Jerónimos Monastery visible in the background. Prominent structural elements of the tower are rendered in fine relief, including the corner turrets and decorative cross-ribbed vaulting. In the lower portion of the design, a balustrade of the tower is engraved with an image of O Português, a gold coin contemporaneous with the tower's construction, serving as a historical numismatic reference. The legend RF 500 ANS TOUR DE BELÉM UNESCO 2019 is inscribed in the field, denoting the 500th anniversary of the tower's construction and its UNESCO World Heritage status.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued as part of France's ongoing "Trésors de Paris" series, this piece commemorates the Belem — the three-masted steel barque launched at Nantes in 1896, and the last surviving French ocean-going sailing vessel of the 19th century. The ship passed through multiple owners across two continents before a French banking consortium acquired and restored her in 1979. She now operates as a sail-training vessel out of French ports.

The Monnaie de Paris struck this at one troy ounce fine gold, a weight format they have used consistently across the prestige tiers of this series.
