| 备注 |
The 200 Euro was the denomination most affected by the ECB's decision to withdraw the entire 2002 series — the so-called "Europa series" replacement began in 2019, and the 200 was redesigned alongside the 100, both issued simultaneously that May. High face value meant low circulation volume from the start; the 200 was rarely used in everyday transactions across most member states, and proportionally fewer were printed than any other denomination except the 500.
Robert Kalina won the design competition in 1996 while working at Austria's Oesterreichische Nationalbank. The architectural motifs were deliberately fictional — no real European structure was depicted, to avoid political favoritism among member states.
