The coastlines of South America — with the territory of future Brazil highlighted east of the demarcation line — and Africa are shown, the latter bearing the Arms of Portugal to symbolize Portuguese sovereignty. The Portuguese coat of arms appears prominently within the composition, flanked by the denomination. The legend REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA and the value 200 escudos are inscribed in the field. |
