| Obverse description | The Portuguese arms — a shield bearing the traditional quinas (five escutcheons arranged in a cross) and bordered by seven castles — appear in relief to the left of the field. To the right, a scene rendered in the Namban artistic style depicts three robed figures seated beneath a gnarled pine tree, evoking the decorative vocabulary of 16th-century Japanese screen painting.
