| 裏面の説明 | A three-quarter portrait bust of Henry the Navigator (1394-1460), Infante of Portugal and son of King Joao I, occupies the central field in a refined engraved style executed by S. Machado. Henry is depicted in period costume befitting his rank as a prince and patron of exploration. To the right of his effigy, his personal coat of arms is rendered in detail alongside his motto TALANT DE BIE FERE, a phrase subsequently adopted by the Portuguese Navy. The legend HENRIQUE O NAVEGADOR arcs along the upper periphery, with the commemorative dates 1394 1994 and the mint inscription INCM S.MACHADO positioned in the lower field. |
