| Description du revers | A detailed cartographic depiction of the coastline of North America and the Florida peninsula occupies the central field, referencing the Cantino Planisphere of 1502, on which Florida appears as Terra Florida. A Cross of the Order of Christ is placed prominently over the Florida region, and the inscription TERRA FLORIDA and the date 1501 — the year associated with the Portuguese exploration of the area — appear in the field. The Tropic of Cancer is indicated as a horizontal line dividing the composition. In the lower portion of the field, a caravel with a lateen sail is shown under sail, heading toward the Florida coast, evoking the spirit of the Portuguese voyages of discovery.
