To his left stands a detailed representation of a Portuguese fortified gateway, referencing the architecture of Malacca. The legend 'MELAKA • 1511 • MALACA' arcs along the upper periphery, commemorating the Portuguese conquest of Malacca in 1511. The name 'AFONSO DE ALBUQUERQUE' is inscribed in a curved legend along the lower rim. Small decorative ornaments flank the portrait on either side of the field.
