背面描述 A large, highly detailed sugar maple leaf occupies the central field, selectively rhodium-plated to achieve a deeply contrasted black finish against the surrounding polished gold surface. The purity marks 9999 appear flanking the leaf at mid-field on both sides. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper border, while the inscriptions FINE GOLD 2 OZ OR PUR are distributed along the lower border, attesting to the coin's two-troy-ounce gold content.

附加信息

Rhodium — harder than platinum, more reflective than silver, and for most of the twentieth century considered little more than a plating curiosity — briefly became the world's most expensive metal by weight in 2021, trading above $29,000 USD per troy ounce before collapsing sharply. The Royal Canadian Mint's decision to issue a rhodium-plated gold coin in the years immediately following that spike carries an implicit editorial commentary on the metal's volatility.

This is also among the final issues bearing Elizabeth II's name before the RCM transitioned to Charles III, making it a terminus piece for a portrait lineage on Canadian coinage stretching back to 1953.
