| 表面の説明 | Facing right bust of Emperor Haile Selassie I in military uniform, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. To the left of the effigy appears the imperial crown emblem, and to the right a royal cipher monogram. A multi-line Ge'ez legend arcs around the upper portion of the coin, while a Latin legend curves along the lower portion reading 'Haile Selassie 75th Birth Day And 50 Years of Leadership'. |

Issued to mark the fortieth anniversary of Haile Selassie's coronation — November 2, 1930 — this is the largest and heaviest gold denomination in the Ethiopian jubilee series struck by the Società Italiana Monete in Rome. The timing carried political weight: by 1966, Selassie was navigating growing internal opposition, and the jubilee coinage functioned partly as a reassertion of imperial legitimacy against a backdrop of student protests and early insurgency in Eritrea.
Mintage was extremely limited, and the 200-dollar piece saw essentially no circulation. Fr#30 remains the cornerstone of the set.
