Reverse description The reverse presents a finely detailed high-relief scene commemorating the explorations of Samuel de Champlain. In the foreground, Champlain stands prominently in period attire — broad-brimmed hat, doublet, and breeches — resting one hand upon a large explorer's pack ornamented with a decorative compass rose medallion. Behind him to the left, a Indigenous figure stands beside a birchbark canoe drawn up on shore, paddle in hand, while a second canoe with oars is visible to the right. A densely forested shoreline and calm waterway form the background. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper rim, with 200 DOLLARS inscribed along the lower arc; the date 2014 appears in the lower left field, and the engraver's initials GG are visible in the lower right field.
