Additional information

The "five nines" gold standard — .99999 fineness — was introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint in the 1990s and remains one of the purest gold compositions used in any sovereign bullion or collector coinage worldwide. Achieving it requires an additional refining pass beyond the .9999 purity common to most gold issues, and the RCM's refinery in Ottawa is one of only a handful of facilities globally capable of producing it at scale.
